ya, my boi's previous owner fed him on pedigree, and guess what! when i send him for grooming the last time, my groomer told me that he have a bit of skin rashes, tat y i change to SG and the condition is better now. Pedigree as we all know, it is a supermarket brand, no doubt it is easily available, but think of your furkid's health. As one of the member say it's cheap, i don't agree on this, cos nowadays all the different brands for dry kibbles are at the competitive prices, it's only a few dollars different, and do you know the small packet for Solid Gold lamb meal is only $16+ (if got discount, it's only $14). Ask yourself one question, which is more important? The money you spent or your furkid's health? I will rather choose my boi's health. When i shop for pet food, i will always look at the food quality and not the price. lamb meat is good for full coated furkids like shihtzu, maltese, etc, as they are prone to skin diesease and lamb is good for them to build the immune system again skin disease. as far as i know my boi have not experience any bad breathe either from lamb or beef as we always brush his teeth. Yar..i hate predigree, purina & alpo.. eat until my dog skin become scaly, rotten & rashies.. make me waste $ see vet. Some brand i try & no prob.. Eagle puppy, canidae, abady, canine caviar & now solid gold. But i m curious.. will lamb & beef cause bad breath?

Same goes for Evo, his previous owner cannot be bothered, as he thought my dog "cannot make it" going to rainbow bridge, so chin chai just bought him Pedigree, in no time rashes appear, just as he weaning, and his owner fed Pedigree for only 1 week, all of rashes appear.
The bacterial came out to be fungus and it really stinks!
Change to Hills Prescription by Vet but seem like don't work though each time we go vet is like $98 (on average) nothing seem to work.
So I change to "Fish and Chips" home cook, potato and salmon, immd. the skin problem clear. (it dun work for my fren dog with fungus)
Now, he is a happy dog, recently just switch to 90% homecook, he seem to finish all his food liao, much better than last time when he refuse to eat.
BTW, those who home cook at home, what are the changes you notice? - my dog put on weight, no more shaky legs - totally free of skin disease - no more lose stools and wet stools - no more L.S. - no more left over food - a satisfied owner... LOL
(no need to wash plate liao... when he licks every single part of the plate to ask for more...) jus kiddin - of course wash the plate la

my boi is on 70% dry kibbles with 30% homecooked food and I do notice there is a great difference: 1. He slowly put on weight. 2. Much more happier with us than with his previous owners (can sense he is very happy and contented and he repay our love and care towards him by showering us with thicker bonding and loyalty.) 3. Stronger than before. wat i noticed about pedigree:
when my maltese and sheltie ate pedigree, their hair drop like siao whenever i comb, a whole bunch would come off and the sheltie is not even shedding, i can fill a small red plastic bag juz with their hair
but when i stop, the maltese shed less hair which is normal since maltese seldom shed and the sheltie shed less which is also normal

Kev me ah... not 100% Barf, but majority are home cook meat, from chicken, lamb and fish. Veges and Vitamins. Sometimes fruits. Hardly feed him fruits.
He was on kibbles at first, but tested a few samples from different brands still itchy all over, so we already suspected allergy --> food related. After I try to make simple meals for him, he don't scratch no more itch. But once on grass, there goes his rashes again. So many possibilities. So the vets that I seen asked me to monitor his condition. If he does well with home cook (barf) so, try to give him that so that he won't be so kang kor (itchy).
Think now okay liaoz

Well, my Span still has schnauzer bumps occassionally but nothing compared to when he was just 5 months old when I really shaved him " botak ". I have brought him swimming, switched many type of kibbles and finally settled for Abady which keep away the outbreaks ... somtimes when I am free, I do give them boiled Chicken drumsticks and they love it. Vikki doesn't have this problem coz she eats any & everything I give her ... one little greedy miss piggy there ... ;D
